Our Culture, Our Pride: Cultural competition-2018


The greater Mymesningh is beauty of her diversity. She lives with various groups of indigenous people such as Garo, Hazong, Dhalu, Banai, Koch etc. Garo is one of the largest indigenous group of Mymensingh among these tribes. They all are practicing their very own culture and rituals.
The major group Garo tribe, practicing their culture with christianity.
Every year celebrated International day for world Indigenous people on 9th August around the world. The last 9th August, 2018 Mymensingh Diocesan Youth Commission and BCSM were arrange together a cultural competition being increases cultural practice among the students.

Youth coordinator Fr. BIjon Joseph Kubi inaugurated the event by his opening speech.  These competition ran over three groups with six items for compete. The groups were primary school, High School and college levels. Items were consisted garo cultural song and dance for primary and high school levels and college students competed on ReRe and Serenjing.
This competition mainly focused on ReRe and Serenjing, that are dialogue between men and women with tune.



Audience of that program appreciate that event and expected to arrange more such that event to practice culture.


Mr. Polash Rema and Mr. Apurbo Mrong both were former president of Mymensingh Diocesan BCSM, they were attend that event and inspires the competitors.

After the competition, prize awarded for the winner competitors. The whole event supported by “Joy of Sharing”.
