For the first time in Bangladesh Asian Lay Leaders (ALL) Forum organized a program in Bangladesh. Mymensingh Diocesan Youth Commission and Bangladesh Catholic Students’ Movement (BCSM) local organizer jointly hosted the program in Bangladesh based on the theme “Youth Working for inter-religious/Intercultural Dialogue and Cooperation, Ecological Sustainability and Peace” from 3rd February to 8th February 2018 in Social Formation Center in Mymensingh Diocese. Bishop Lawrence Subrata Howlader CSC, Chairman of Episcopal Commission for Youth of Bangladesh offered the opening mass. Br. Ujjal Placid Pereira CSC, National Youth Coordinator of Episcopal Commission for Youth and National Chaplain of BCSM, Fr. Torun Bonowary, Director of Social Formation Center of Mymensingh Diocese, Fr. Bijon Kubi Diocesan Youth Coordinator of Mymensingh Diocesan Youth Commission and Diocesan Chaplain of Mymensingh Diocesan BCSM, Mr. Paul Hwang Director of ALL Forum, Ms. Felicia Perera Coordinator of ALL Forum was also present in the opening ceremony of the program. The participant and the guests were welcomed by traditional way of Mymensingh. Bp. Subrata appreciated this program in Bangladesh.

He said as in 2018 Bishop Synod will be held, so this is the time we need to be more focused on youth and hear from them. Br. Ujjal thanked to ALL Forum to come to Bangladesh. The program was started with exposure. The exposure site was organic farm house in Baromari, Indigenous People life style and how they survive in Modhupur and Taize Brothers, how did they work for peace building. The first session of the program on Asian Churches, FABC and Triple Dialogue by Mr. Paul Hwang. He said Asians constitute 54% of the world’s population and the Catholic population is around 3%: a weakness of the Asian Church in communicating the Christian faith with local cultures. He also shared about Basic Principles of CSTs, Vatican II and Dialogue, FABC & Triple Dialogue. The Second Session was on “Spirits dwelled in universe: Spirituality on Diversity” by Fr. Niphot Thainwihan. Fr. Told that the world is going back to his ancestor. We have to take care about our nature. Food is not just food. We need to hear nature. In the third session Ms. Suporna Poli Drong, activist and Director of Shanti Mitra shared on “Youth as advocate for human rights especially Women in Bangladesh”. She said youth should take responsibility to protect the human rights more. Br. Eric Taize in his session on “Interreligious Dialogue, A Lifeline for Peoples in Asia” says we should know our religion first to do better interreligious dialogue. The last session of the program was on Integral Human Development and Ecological Sustainability in light of Evangelli Gaudium and Laudato Si by Mr. Paul. He says God is around us we should take care about the nature and all other things. He also says the participants are energetic and they participate in the session but they need to know more and deeply about Catholic Social Teaching and Vatican II. So, they can participate more deeply and realize more. 30 students participated in this 5 days program from 7 dioceses.
